Without doubt everyone’s favourite event, which is also the best supported lunch in the members’ calendar!!
48 members and guests gathered for this year’s lunch at our traditional venue at the Reine Astrid in Lyon’s 6th arrondissement. We welcomed new members, one returning member, Zöe Adam and for the first time, Lyon’s English speaking vicar, Ben Harding.
Philip had invited Ben for two main reasons: firstly, he’s a really good man, great fun to talk to and he had been meaning to invite him beforehand….and secondly, one or two of our members are having a tough time with their health and he wanted us all to spare a thought for the less fortunate at Christmas.
Ben very kindly said grace and we all enjoyed a very good lunch, supported by Christmas crackers, mince pies and a lot of good-humoured conversation!
The Christmas quiz, created by Ed Hazlewood and Michael Strophair went down very well, the winners amply rewarded with a bottle of Two Hats beer (the Noel edition, no less!) and a box of Cadbury’s Heroes!
We finished with a prize draw, with prizes including a bottle of Champagne, a range of coolers and headlamps from Coleman, plus mince pies and confectionery.
